Petra Marčinko's sensational victory, advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA Makarska Open.
Petra Marčinko was excellent against the third seed from Mexico, Renata Zarazua. She dominated from start to finish, won 6:4, 6:3 and thus remained our only representative in the quarterfinals of the WTA Makarska Open hosted by Valamar. Tomorrow she will face 19-year-old tennis player from Andorra, Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva.
"I'm quite tired, it was a mentally demanding match but great, I played well. I managed to finish properly. There were a few ups and downs, but in the end it was okay," our young tennis player, the former world number one junior, said shortly after the match.
When asked if she expects to win the tournament, she answered briefly: "Always, and I don't know what will happen".

Along with the sensational victory of our Petra, the news was given that last year's winner and second seed of the tournament, American Katie Volynets, lost easily to the experienced Mona Barthel, the former 23rd player in the world. In just an hour of play, the German celebrated with a score of 6:3; 6:1. Volynets obviously struggled a lot yesterday in her game with our Tena Lukas.
Petra Martić, unfortunately, did not succeed, although at the beginning it seemed that she had a victory. In one of the most tense matches of the tournament so far, she lost to the Czech Sara Bejlek 4:6, 6:3, 6:4.

Tara Würth also fought well. She was one step away from the quarterfinals. In the end, Latvian Darja Semenistaja celebrated 7:6 (6), 7:5.

Even two Kids Days

Tara Würth and Petra Marčinko had an unusual warm-up this morning. They happily accepted the invitation and played with the kids at the traditional Kids Day on Kačić Square in the center of Makarska. It wasn't difficult to entertain the kids in the center of Makarska.

They played with top tennis players without any problems. Balls flew everywhere, lots of laughter, great fun and of course – a group photo at the end. The people of Makarska also enjoyed themselves, who came to the square to drink their morning coffee, chased balls, threw them into the improvised court. Tennis once again brought all generations together.

The day before, the kids played tennis at another Kids Day, the one at the Makarska Elementary School of Father Petar Perica, which this year also includes the proceeds from the tournament tickets.
