Seven Croatian tennis players have registered to compete in the WTA tournament in Makarska

On the list of registered players for the 17th edition of the WTA Makarska Open, the most attractive women's tennis tournament in the region, which takes place from June 5th to June 11th in the city under Biokovo, there are strong names from the world of tennis. Bol's winning players, Tamara Zidanšek from Slovenia, Aleksandra Krunić from Serbia, and Jasmine Paolini from Italy, are returning to Makarska.

The strength of the tournament, which moved from Bol to a new destination last year, is also demonstrated by the fact that last year's winner, German Jule Niemeier, played in the Wimbledon quarter-finals last year, and some players have won WTA titles of higher categories just after last year's tournament in Makarska.

This year, the WTA Makarska Open hosted by Valamar will also feature Olympic bronze medalist from Tokyo, Brazilian Laura Pigossi, as well as Laura Siegmund, a German who won a Grand Slam with our Mate Pavić in doubles.

As one of the important goals of the Makarska tournament is to enable Croatian female tennis players to win the necessary WTA points, it is good news that even seven of our players have registered for the tournament - Petra Marčinko, the world's first junior, Ana Konjuh, and Tena Lukas, who won the doubles tournament last year, Jana Fett, Tara Wuth, Antonija Ružić, and Makaranka Marijana Draži. The director of the WTA Makarska Open tournament, Feliks Lukas, emphasizes that the invitations will be announced soon.

Mayar Sheriff, an Egyptian tennis player currently ranked 43rd in the world, received an invitation from the tournament director, and Kazakhstani Yulia Putintseva, with several victories against top ten players, Czech Linda Noskova, and the winner of the last Bol tournament, Jasmine Paolini from Italy, will play on the courts in Makarska.

Four American tennis players will also come - Peyton Stearns, Emma Navarro, Katie Volynets, and Kayla Day. From neighboring Hungary, Dalma Galfi and Anna Bondar will participate, and from Montenegro, their best player Danka Kovinić.

Rebecca Peterson comes from Sweden, and the list of players from the top 100 concludes with Slovakian Anna Karolina Schniedlova. Clara Burel, Diane Parry, and Leoilia Jeanjean will participate from France, and Yue Yuan from China.

"It will truly be a pleasure to watch top-notch matches literally a few meters away from the sea. In addition to the sports part, visitors will also be able to enjoy a great entertainment program, which will include, among others, the world-famous pianist Lola Astanova. Astanova performed, for example, at the Venice Biennale, and has more than a million followers on Instagram," emphasized the director of the Makarska Open tournament hosted by Valamar, adding that the organizers are preparing even more surprises for the visitors.

See you in Makarska.
