Martić in the quarter-finals of the WTA Makarska Open, Lukas with Mladenović in the semi-finals of the doubles

Never write off the Egyptian Mayar Sherif. In last year's final of the WTA Makarska Open, Mayar Sherif trailed 2:6, 2:5, but still, after a marathon three hours of play, she managed to win the final of this WTA tournament from the 125th series. Last year, Sherif defeated the Italian tennis player in a dramatic final Jasmine Paolini (WTA-53rd) with 2:6, 7:6 (6), 7:5.

A year later, this Thursday, Paolini and Sherif played again almost at the same time, but Paolini in Roland Garros, Sherif again in Makarska. Paolini defeated Mira Andrejeva 6:3, 6:1 and qualified for the Roland Garros final, while Sherif struggled with Russian Maria Timofeeva and eventually won 6:3, 3:6, 7:5.

In the Croatian clash, Petra Martić had to make up for a deficit of 1:4 in the first set against Lea Bošković and she succeeded. She won that set in a tie-break and eventually won 7:6 (6), 6:4.

Lucija Ćirić Bagarić played an excellent match against the experienced Chinese Xiyu Wang, but in the end she was defeated with a score of 7:5, 7:6.

Tena Lukas and Kristina Mladenović reached the semi-finals of the doubles tournament, in the quarter-finals they beat Ukrainian Strahova and Wu from Chinese Taipei 7:5, 6:4. Japan's Hibino and Georgia's Kalashnikova await them in the semi-finals.

American Sabrina Santamaria and Iryna Shymanovich will play against Greek Valentini Grammatikopoulou and Polish Katarzyna Piter in the second doubles semi-final.
