Right at the opening of the most attractive WTA tournament, we had a great match. The Croatian tennis player impressed with her game.
The first day of the tournament in Makarska was opened by the multiple Grand Slam winner Kristina Mladenović, who was defeated by the young Croatian tennis player Sara Svetac in a match full of twists and turns. The result was 6:4, 3:6, 6:4. By the way, this match was part of the qualifications for the main tournament, which speaks volumes about the quality of the WTA Makarska Open.
"I was very excited, it was very nice and I enjoyed playing against such a player, it was really an honor. And when I felt that I could bring it to an end, I thought - wow, is this really happening?! After the match I'm still in shock, I can't believe what I did. I believed that I could play well and that I could parry, but this is really unexpected", said the young woman from Split after the match.
Among the other interesting matches today, as part of the first round of the tournament, the excellent Czech tennis player Brenda Fruhvirtova beat Simona Waltert from Switzerland, and the defending champion from Egypt, Mayar Sherif, beat Latvian Darje Semenistaje.
