WTA Makarska Open 2022 fifth day: Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto and German Jule Niemeier in the final

Elisabetta Cocciaretto from Italy and Jule Niemeier from Germany will play in the finals of the WTA Makarska Open by Valamar tennis tournament. Cocciaretto was convincing in the first semifinal against Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, beating her 7-6 (7), 6-1, while Niemeier celebrated against Czech Linda Noskova 6-2, 6-1.

In the duel between Cocciaretto and Schmiedl, the key was the first set, which was broken by the 21-year-old Italian.

"Oh," I saved three sets of balls, it wasn't easy. But when I managed to do that in the second set, everything was much easier, "Cocciaretto told us.

It was played from 5.30 pm, so the sun was not as strong as in the previous play time of the past days.

"Yes, it was easier today, but I'm here anyway, on the other side of the Adriatic. "I'm used to the sun," said Cocciaretto.

Last year this tournament was won by Italian Jasmine Paolini, now Cocciaretto is quite close.

"It was the beginning of her ascent to the top 50, I hope it will be the same for me."

However, German Niemeier is also hoping. She showed solid, constant tennis.

"It would be nice to crown this week with a title. I enjoy Makarska and it would be a wonderful weekend, "said the 22-year-old German.

The finals are scheduled for 5.30 pm on the Central Court of the Valamar Tennis Center.
