Croatia was left without representatives in the singles competition at the WTA Makarska Open hosted by Valamar. In the quarterfinals, the last hope, Zagreb's Tara Wurth, lost to Czech Linda Noskova 6:4, 7:5.

Wurth seemed to be rushing towards the third set, she had a 5:2 lead in the second half of the match but failed.

"I had big problems with blisters on the Achilles tendon. They opened up completely. Here is my open wound. I tried to call a physiotherapist to help, but it didn't work. I felt it in the match before, in the second round against Aleksandra Potapova, but to a lesser extent. Overall, I am pleased with this week. I will be with new points around 300th place in the world. But more importantly to me, I have shown that I am equal with these girls who are between 50th and 200th place in the world. I'm just sorry that I didn't finish the tournament healthy, but I will recover and move on, "said Tara.

Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova beat Serbia's Olga Danilovic 7-5, 6-1, while Italy's Elisabetta Cocciaretto beat France's Clara Burel 6-2, 6-4. In the last match of the day, the seventh seed, German Jule Niemeier, beat Russian Anastasia Gasonova 6:2, 7:5.

In the semifinals, Schmiedlova will play against Cocciaretto, Noskova against Niemeier.

However, Saturday will not pass without the Croatians at the Valamar Tennis Center. Namely, in the doubles semifinals, Mariana Dražić with Hungarian Amarissa Toth is looking for a place in the finals against Tena Lukas and Slovenian Dalila Jakupovič. In the second semifinal of the doubles, Noskova and Russian Selekhmeteva will play against Danilović and Krunić.
